How is the transparency score calculated?
The transparency score shows what percentage of 33 evaluation items a vendor publicly discloses. Items include data retention policies, data processing agreements, security contacts, uptime guarantees, and certifications like SOC 2, ISO 27001, and ISO 42001. A score of 70%+ is rated green, 40-69% yellow, and below 40% red.
How are evaluations conducted?
Our system automatically visits each vendor's official website, collects publicly available information such as terms of service, privacy policies, and security pages, then checks it against 33 expert-designed evaluation criteria. This means every vendor is measured by the exact same standard — consistently and objectively. Evaluations are automatically refreshed on an ongoing basis, and expert reviews are conducted as needed to ensure accuracy.

What is shadow AI detection?
Shadow AI refers to AI services used by employees without IT department approval. Our Chrome extension monitors browser activity in real time to detect visits to AI service domains. It identifies both known services (from our registry) and unknown AI tools using automatic classification. Blocked AI services trigger instant alerts, giving IT teams full visibility into organizational AI usage. Note: The Chrome extension is available as part of the Enterprise plan.
Can I track score changes over time?
Yes. The watchlist feature lets you save vendors you're interested in and monitor their transparency scores over time. When a vendor updates their policies, adds certifications, or changes their public information, the score is automatically recalculated. Pro plan users can view detailed score trend charts spanning up to 30 days.
Can I search by what a service does?
Yes. Our full-text search covers not just vendor names but also service descriptions and taglines. Each of the 8,967+ vendors includes an AI-generated overview explaining what the service does, so you can discover relevant AI tools even if you don't know the vendor name.
